Since 2002 TAG Resources, LLC has been a leader in the retirement services industry providing unique plan management services to 401(k) plan sponsors. TAG first began providing professional plan fiduciary service and aggregation of plan investments for small and medium 401(k) plan sponsors. By relying on the multiple employer plan (MEP) model, unrelated employers could establish and co-sponsor a more robust single retirement plan. The Open MEP® concept was created by TAG to enable the aggregation of assets to leverage better cost and to provide a better service model and provide fiduciary protection. TAG offered small plans the advantages of “scale” in investments, auditing, and fiduciary compliance.
In 2011, continuing to advocate for our plan sponsors and participants, TAG requested the DOL review The Open MEP® model. In 2012, as a response to the DOL’s Advisory Opinion Letter, TAG made adjustments to our service model. The TAG Program’s internal structure changed slightly but the client experience, fiduciary protection, and ease of administration remained the same while adding new advantages of flexible pricing options able to accommodate all size plans.
Recently President Obama has suggested that open MEPs be given new focus because of their advantages to small and medium size employers. Regardless of whether The Open MEP® once again becomes a focus in the retirement industry, The TAG Program will continue to enhance the ease of administration and affordability of employer plan sponsorship from small to large plans, while fulfilling TAG’s mission to provide all employees the opportunity to retire with dignity. TAG’s unique culture of innovation in the areas of flexibility, cost efficiency, multi-tiered pricing, administration, liability risk reduction, audit support, regulatory compliance and technological integration has allowed TAG to become the largest “end to end” 401(k) provider in America.
